About

My name is Dolores, and I am a qualified, registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association.
I am committed to the wellbeing of my client's; showing respect, empathy and understanding, in a non-judgmental and accepting space, allowing you to discuss what is going on in your life, with the intention of helping you make the changes you need to move forward, clarify concerns, and guiding you in resolving them. Personal lived experiences, academic study, and a passion to be there for others, have led me to counselling. To be that someone who will truly listen.
I have worked in a range of sectors, including government and community. I provide face to face, online and phone counselling to individuals, couples, and families. I am an accomplished general counsellor, with a special interest in working with women, children, and young people, who have experienced, or who are experiencing trauma, including working with children within the Child Protection system.
I offer a professional, private room for your counselling experience, as well as online Counselling. The counselling space is welcoming, private, and confidential (within the limitations of client safety). My hope is to create a space where you feel supported in exploring your emotions, hopes, concerns and day-to-day struggles.
I am an empathetic, supportive, and approachable person who understands that there are many challenges we face in our day-to-day lives that impact on our overall wellbeing. I work from a trauma-informed perspective, offering a warm and accepting approach that helps people feel acknowledged, safe, and supported to move forward from stressful life experiences.
My mission is to work alongside people to help create positive outcomes for them to live happier, healthier lives, assisting them to identify strengths and resources, recognising that the client is the expert of their story.
I practice varying counselling approaches, including therapeutic Person-Centred Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Child Centred Play Therapy, selecting methods that best suit the client.
